NEW BLOOD WITH AARON PIERCE

Spent an hour with Aaron Pierce today, shot some photos, had some iced coffee, talked some football. Good times.

CSA / CAFE CARIBE

My roommate, Christina is part of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). She was out of town this week, so I went to pick it up. They wanted to give me more than this but I was riding my bike, so I went light. I've already fried up the squash, onions and zucchini, if that is a zucchini. And I got a kohlrabi, which I have to figure out what to do with.

And, if you don't know about Cafe Caribe, it's the best coffee you're ever going to get for 3 for $5. That's right. 3 cans or 3 bricks for $5. Gotta love it. Awesome coffee in an awesome container.

BRICKS ARE HEAVY!!!

Riding the L home from work yesterday, I was right next to door L7 on the train. Got me thinking about the original L7. Man, when I was 17 they were the bomb. I got to see them a few years later at one of the Lollapalooza's and they did not disappoint.

JUNE 30, 2009, SPINACH AND MUSHROOM QUASI-QUESADILLA GOODNESS

While I'll never be mistaken for a food stylist, this photo still makes my mouth water. It's got mushrooms, spinach, roasted corn, cilantro, tomato, queso cotija, crema, valentina hot sauce, a pepper and a lime. So freaking good. And there's still one left over in the fridge. Michael better eat it before I get a chance to.

JUNE 30, 2009, COOK STREET, BUSHWICK

Sometimes, you could spend hours, days or weeks, trying to make a great photo and sometimes, you just walk right by, on your way to the laundromat. And unfortunately you only have your cellphone on you. By the way, Blackberry Pearls take horrible photos. But I still love this, old broken 45 hanging from a barbed wire fence. How does that even happen?

CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF CHAUNCEY

GO STUDIOS

On Monday I assisted Gemma Comas on a shoot at Go Studios. It was the first time I had ever been there. The studio was real nice, new kitchen, great light, and an awesome staff that was there to take care of all of our issues. They have equipment to rent if you ever need it. If you have any questions give Sarah a ring at 212.564.4084.

CHAUNCEY AKA FORMER PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON AKA PROFESSOR CARROT

Chauncey is the newest member of 207. He was a little stand-offish when my roommates, Michael and Mimi, got him, which is what he's doing in this first photo. He eventually warmed up to the point where he feels it's ok to chew on my speakers. He's pretty awesome.

MAMMATUS CLOUDS OVER NEW YORK

I didn't know what Mammatus clouds were until I saw one and then got on the old Wikipedia and learned a little bit. Pretty interesting stuff. This shot was the last of the night, a few seconds later and the show was over. Pretty wild.

FORT GREENE FLEA MARKET

This is the first time I've been to the Fort Greene flea market and it rocked out. A lot of cool art and used/vintage things. Everything from found photos to Spongebob watches. And they have these crazy good quesadillas with spinach and mushrooms! And lemonade! MJ was playing on the turntable a lot. Watching little kids dance to that was kind of weird. But awesome.

PETER COLE!!!

I've talked about Peter's amazing art before, but he also is a purveyor of fine vintage things. He sells his wares at the Fort Greene Flea Market on Saturdays and in DUMBO on Sundays.

LILLIAN CROWE

Lillian is an awesome girl who makes awesome jewelry. She sells a mix of handmade and vintage pieces. She's available on Etsy and at the Fort Greene Flea Market on Saturdays, where you can also find all kinds of other rad stuff for sale. It's summer, get on your bike and go!

GEORGIA BEAUMONT HOJUNG LEE!!!

Ok, I know I'm biased and all because I'm Georgia's uncle and all. But isn't she the cutest baby ever. Super high five congratulations to Michael and Lucy on their bundle of awesomeness. She's only two weeks old and already she's yawning like a pro, nice extension for maximum yawnage. I haven't yawned like that in a long time. I'm jealous.

17TH AND 5TH, 25 JUNE 2009

Folks, I can't even make this crap up. I'm not good enough at Photoshop to put a cat on a dude's head and call it a photo. The funny thing is he was yelling at that truck for turning in front of him!!!!! Dude, you have a cat on your head! You can't say anything.

Ahhh, New York. It's pretty awesome.

BATTLEWORN TRAIN CARD

I think I've had this MTA card longer than any other. I'm always losing them or sending them through the wash. This one doesn't seem to want to leave my side. We've had some good times and some bad.

On another note, if you haven't added me up on Facebook, here's a link to my photo page.

What the?...333 visits came from 26 countries/territories on the blog, 150 in the last 6 days? You people are awesome, thanks so much!

SCENES FROM 'MAKE MUSIC NEW YORK' AT SODAFINE

As part of the Make Music New York Festival, Erin at Sodafine had four bands playing. I didn't get a chance to see Hard Nips or Kocho-bi-sexual. But I did see Red Dawn II (quite possibly one of the best band names ever, just saying), and Cathy. Both bands rocked.

Also down the street at Passout Records they had some good bands playing as well, Mt. Olympus being the one I remembered.

FABRIC HORSE AT THE BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL

Today I had a chance to hang out at the Bicycle Film Festival in the East Village. I flopped my bag of bones in the Fabric Horse tent with Carrie and Gabriel and the 2 Abby's, neither of which was my Abby. It rained off and on but it was still a sweet time, all the bikes and gear that was on hand. Carrie has a bunch of cool new stuff coming out soon. One new thing that is out is an iPhone pouch with a hole for your earphones...sweet! If you don't know about Fabric Horse and R.E. Load, that's ok, you do now. It's gear for bike lovers by bike lovers. You can check out all the cool stuff here and her blog here.

GABRIEL VELASQUEZ AND FIVE INCH MONSTERS

Gabriel is one of my bestest friends and is one half of an awesome duo known as Gabriel and Sabrina. Gabriel is an artist in many different disciplines. But don't take my word for it, check out his work here.

GREENPOINT SEWAGE PLANT

Greenpoint's most beautiful site is its stinkiest as well.

VEGGIE MEATBALL SUBS

Anyone who knows me, knows I can be pretty lazy at times. Which is where Trader Joe's comes in. Thankfully for me, he makes some alright veggie meatballs. I was hankering for some old school meatball subs and I needed to use that smoked mozzarella I was talking about. I ground up some garlic, chili peppers, basil and some salt and pepper and put the mixture on top of the subs. I washed it down with a Sam Adams Black Lager. I like lager and I like black. It's dark and roasty with burnt chocolate and some coffee—like a porter but much lighter.. Mmmm....

If you would like to check out ACTUAL vegan recipes from a cool dude, check out Opposition Kitchen. Again, I got my stuff from Trader Joes. I'm a poser.

ALL THIS HAS COME BEFORE...

Shot this a few days ago with that sweet Fuji 645 I talked about recently, about half a block from 210 Cook. Then I did my best to fumble my way through developing the film myself. I had a great playlist to help me along:

Boy Sets Fire
Agnostic Front
A18
108
Refused
Madball
Hostages
Black Cross
Trial
Converge
Snapcase

Then I scanned it in at home, did the old 1,2,3 and voila. A photo.

PASCAL PRINCE

When it comes to retouching my images, I'm barely ok, and nowhere near great. So when Pascal Prince offered to look over my images before I went to get them printed, I jumped at the chance.

Pascal is an amazing retoucher based here in New York. He does the retouching for a lot of the big photographers out there, including Tom Munro, Wayne Maser, Thomas Schenk, Jeff Riedel, Christophe Rihet, Max Vadukul, Ellen Von Unwerth, Warwick Saint, Karen Collins and Taghi Naderzad.

I tried to peak over his shoulder when he was working on my images, but he was working too fast and it was over my head. Here's one of the images he worked on for me. It's from the recent Institute of Dress collection. A little of the old before and after:
